It's been a year???!!

Oh goodness. Time goes by way too quickly. I can't believe it's been a year since I posted in this blog.

I've had some email inquiries asking if I am still dyeing and yes, I am. :) We've begun homeschooling, so my time usage is a lot different than it used to be, but I haven't lost the love for dyeing, so I'm doing my absolute best to work dye time in as much as I can.

I wish I could promise to keep this blog updated better, but I'm just not sure I can commit to that.... I did just add a few pics to my FB page though. :)

Emailing me is probably the best way to get in touch. I do check my email.... but I'll be honest and say I'm not great at responding right away. If I have dye jobs stacked up that I'm focusing on, I tend to let the emails stack up a bit and then when I've cleared my plate and can actually see availability coming up, I will respond to emails.

Thank you so much to everyone that's emailed and everyone I've worked with. I truly enjoy being involved in creating these one of a kind dye jobs for you to snuggle your babes in. I think it means even more as my littlest (and last) is now 3 1/2 and our wearing time winds down.

Oh Carmin -- How I love thee.

Carmin is one of those wraps that I've waited my whole wrapping life for. ;) A 50% linen fish. And MAN! does Carmin deliver!! Awesome support, fabulous width, fun little toddler enticing fishies -- it's just about got it all!! Well..... it's got everything going for it other than the color. Really Didy??? Pink/red fish. Ok. Ok. I get it. Lots of mamas emailed asking for red/white fish and *technically* that is exactly what Didy delivered..... but the mix of white cotton threads and red linen threads leaves a very pink overall look. Which.... I *guess* is cute??? But it's just not me. So, I decided to have a little playdate for Carmin with first some stripper and then a dip in some dye ala this funny little tropical fish. :)

Jet Black LSE

One of the hottest, rockin-est mamas on TBW asked me if I could dye this lovely wrap Jet Black -- Heck ya!!! This gorgeous Lavendar Silk Ellipsen went for a dip in Jet Black dye from Dharma, then in black acid dye just to get the silk threads even darker. The result is a super gorgeous, soft ultimate neutral. :) I can not WAIT to see her action shots!!!

So, not all my pfau, but I've had the pleasure to play with some pfauen the last couple days. What a gorgeous, fun wrap. :) Loving this 50% linen Garnet Pfau.

Stack from further away. You can see the stripped and dyed pfau kept some of the bronze color in the linen threads despite a long soak in charcoal. Adds cool dimension and funk. :)

Also interesting to note: Didy used red (presumably polyester) threads to sew the rails and hems. It did not strip.

Boy and girl pfauen. :) Totally reminds me of actual female and male peacocks. Love these wraps together!!!

Check out those linen threads! They keep awesome contrast when dyed. Still a tri-colored wrap. :) And as usual, the linen adds a bit of shine and shimmer from a distance. Love!

Turquoise/Chartreuse Moss

A lovely, lovely mama sent me her Moss for a little makeover. I actually ended up not mixing up my own colors for this one and did straight turquoise on one side, with straight chartreuse on the other. I love the summery feel of this!! Enjoy mama! :)

My Sunset Trifecta

Didy's Sunset is one of my forever wraps. It's the wrap I picked up at the Didy store in Germany in September 2010. It's the first of Didy's 55% linen diamond weave wraps and it's absolutely amazing. The support is unreal and it breaks in to be silky and floppy. My original size 5 will remain au natural permanently, but ooooh.... it strips and dyes so, so beautifully. Through a trade with a friend, I got a Sunset 4 and chopped it to a size 3 and stripped it. It's my perfect, can take out and about with me because the tails won't drag on the ground ruck wrap. It's gorgeous and pure and makes a pretty sweet scarf when my increasingly independant 2yo wrappee chooses to explore. :) Then, I realized, my stash was 55% diamond weave size 4-less and well -- Sunset was a perfect fit to that. This size 4 recently arrived and hit the charcoal dye bath. The orange threads are still visible -- but now they are more of a rust brown -- they shimmer and shine and make a simple grey wrap interesting. :)

So, I present to you my Sunset Trifecta!!!!

Azur for a super sweet mama

This mama approached me months ago about dyeing something for her. I had to decline, as politely as possible, because I just wasn't ready to go there. However, she just sent me the sweetest message ever, asking for a dye job -- and giving me total freedom to dye to my whims. Wow! What a dream! I asked her for some color preferences to give me a bit of direction. She listed colors such as charcoal (well, that's obviously right up my alley lol), violet, dusty rose and a few others. Then I saw a pic of her sweet little all wrapped up with a sweet hat on... And that was my inspiration. Here is the pic (cropped for privacy):
